A really good performance from Korat against one of the top sides in the division. Of course, their keeper being sent off helped us a lot, but we were really up for this one from the start. We could and should have been three or four nil up before the keeper got his marching orders.
Was it the right decision? It depends how the referee interprets "clear goal-scoring opportunity". You could argue that a Sriracha defender was near the keeper and that a yellow card would have been fair. You could also argue that if a goalkeeper comes flying out of his area and brings down an opposing attacker then he's asking for trouble. It's a tough one. I perhaps would have given a yellow. Either way, it certainly wasn't a terrible decision, as one Sriracha player on Twitter seemed to think. Certainly, had the roles been reversed, I would be criticising our keeper and not the referee.
For the rest of the match it seemed a matter of when and not if Korat would score. Although, as the second half progressed, I was starting to fear that it could be 'one of those days'. So pleased that Prompong is finding the net on a regular basis again. He struggled at the start of the season under the old coach but he's blossoming under Moreira.
But, despite Prompong's double, I would again be tempted to give man-of-the-match to Marques. How did this guy not get into the team at Bangkok United? He was immense yesterday. He was all over the pitch and masterminding every attack. At times it was as if there was two of him out there! But I'll strip him of his MOTM award for his 'Latin' behaviour: running up to the referee to demand action every time Sriracha committed a foul, brandising the imaginary card and feigning injury twice. I guess this is the trade off for having a class Brazilian in your side. But I don't like it; it's unnecessary and, unlike the Thais, I have no problem in publicly criticising him for it on Facebook, Twitter or on the website.
